vs 3. – Blessed are the poor in Spirit; for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
The more we desire God, yearn for God, and seek God above all other pursuits, the richer in Him we become. “We are His people and the sheep of His pasture” (Psalms 100). We cry “Abba ! Father !” and he promises us heir-ship with His Son, Jesus (Romans 8). Jesus promised a home in glory (St. John 14).
vs 4. – Blessed are they who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
As we cry for God’s comfort, He hears and comforts us (Psalms 23). “He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty (Psalms 91). We depend upon the name of the Lord for salvation, safety, and protection – “The name of the Lord is a strong Tower; the Righteous run in and and saved” – “Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is no other Name under Heaven given to men whereby we must be saved !”
