Salt is considered to be an essential element in the earth. The earth appears to have an abundant supply of salt. Sea water is 26 per cent salt, by weight. There are many parts of the earth that have a shortage of salt. Salt is used to season food. It is also used in many chemical processes. It can also be used to assist with the treatment of certain wounds. Salt is also a known preservative. Meat for example, when salted on the surface can avoid spoilage for weeks even months.
In the same way, believers, with their seasoned conversation of grace, minister solutions of peace to many of life’s situations. “The effectual fervent prayer of the righteous man availeth much.” – James 5:16 b.
The prayer of the intercessing believing saint also preserves
Light is essential to our existence. Light can be used to show us where to go and also where not to go. “Thy Word is a Lamp unto my feet and a Light unto my pathway”. Salt, through electrolysis, can be used to produce electricity; electricity in turn can produce Light and Power.
The power of light can be used to light an entire city; it can also be used to guide the eyes and hands of a surgeon; without it we would be lost.
Light can be used in practically every situation in life. It should not be hid. Too much light can blind. Too little light can cause one to stumble. Conversely, much light is needed to light a city or guide a ship; small light is needed to aid the eyes of the surgeon in surgery. Therefore, the right amount of light is needed to meet our various needs and the needs of our world.
The believer therefore, should be wise in applying the right amount of knowledge and wisdom to meet various situations. “A soft answer turns away wrath”.
“Jesus is the light of the world” – The spirit of God brightens our countenance as it did with Moses and others.
