The Need For Baptism – We Need To Be Baptized Into Christ and His Spirit – 001

If we follow the example of Jesus, we would follow Him into baptism.  The baptism in water is shown as the manner of baptism in Matthew Chapter 3; however, closer inspection shows the presence of God’s Spirit, The Holy Spirit accompanying baptism.

The Great Baptism is that of being immersed into the body of Christ and also having God’s Spirit placed inside of us and our soul, our most inner being.

The Holy Spirit baptizes into the Body of Christ (The Church of God).

Jesus Christ Baptizes us with the Holy Ghost, or Holy Spirit as seen throughout the New Testament (i.e., John 14, John 16, Acts Chapters 1 and 2, Acts 10:44-48, Acts 19:1-6).

Water baptism is an outward sign to the others and the world of the inward experience with God within us.

Acts 1:8

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

John 14:17

Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Acts 11:16

Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

Romans 8:1-2

1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

Matthew 3:1-17
1 In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea,
2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
3 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
4 And the same John had his raiment of camel’s hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.
5 Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,
6 And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins.
7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
8 Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:
9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
12 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Romans 6:1-14
6 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

The Gift That Never Ends – Psalms 136

God’s gift of mercy for HIS people, endures forever, it has no end.

Regardless of what happens, good or bad, The LORD’s mercy endures forever; without ceasing or interruption or any finite ending.

The sweet name is Jesus and HIS salvation to us, grants us access to this boundless gift.

Governments, kingdoms, and kings rise and fall, they come and go; but the LORD’s mercy endures forever.

What a powerful gift.  Let us appreciate it … Let us seek it, by seeking GOD’s favor and blessing.  Obedience to GOD’s Word yields tremendous, indescribable benefits.

No, we may not deserve it by our goodness or righteousness, but through the gift of GOD’s son Jesus Christ, and HIS wisdom, who gives to all people liberally….

James 1:5 says:  “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

Remember, as it is stated over and over in Psalms 136, “… HIS mercy endureth forever”

Psalms 136 (King James Version)

1 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
2 O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever.
3 O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever.
4 To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever.
5 To him that by wisdom made the heavens: for his mercy endureth for ever.
6 To him that stretched out the earth above the waters: for his mercy endureth for ever.
7 To him that made great lights: for his mercy endureth for ever:
8 The sun to rule by day: for his mercy endureth for ever:
9 The moon and stars to rule by night: for his mercy endureth for ever.
10 To him that smote Egypt in their firstborn: for his mercy endureth for ever:
11 And brought out Israel from among them: for his mercy endureth for ever:
12 With a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm: for his mercy endureth for ever.
13 To him which divided the Red sea into parts: for his mercy endureth for ever:
14 And made Israel to pass through the midst of it: for his mercy endureth for ever:
15 But overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red sea: for his mercy endureth for ever.
16 To him which led his people through the wilderness: for his mercy endureth for ever.
17 To him which smote great kings: for his mercy endureth for ever:
18 And slew famous kings: for his mercy endureth for ever:
19 Sihon king of the Amorites: for his mercy endureth for ever:
20 And Og the king of Bashan: for his mercy endureth for ever:
21 And gave their land for an heritage: for his mercy endureth for ever:
22 Even an heritage unto Israel his servant: for his mercy endureth for ever.
23 Who remembered us in our low estate: for his mercy endureth for ever:
24 And hath redeemed us from our enemies: for his mercy endureth for ever.
25 Who giveth food to all flesh: for his mercy endureth for ever.
26 O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Be – An Overcomer Through Christ Jesus

It is known through God’s Word that the key to overcoming the world and sin and its judgement of death, eternal separation from GOD, is through an abiding, continual relationship with JESUS CHRIST.

St. John 16:32-33 (KJV)

32 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.

33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

IJohn 2:1-2; 13-17 (KJV)

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.

13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.

14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Jesus is LORD of ALL and He is LORD OVER ALL

Jesus is Lord of ALL things.  Simply meaning HE is the FINAL and really ONLY authority on ALL things.
We should worship HIM.
HE is our Creator and Sustainer and Keeper.

According to Philippians 2:9-11,
“Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him THE name which above every name,
That at the Name of JESUS, every knee should bow, of those in heaven and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,
And that EVERY tongue should confess that JESUS Christ is LORD, to the Glory of GOD the Father”.

According to Colossians 1:16-18,
“For by HIM all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones
or dominions or principalities or powers. All things wee created through HIM and for HIM.
And HE is before all things, and in HIM all things consist”.

The Spirit of God (part 1)

References to the Spirit of God is found throughout the scriptures. In the Old Testament we find the first mention to the Spirit in Genesis 1:2b “And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters”. The Spirit of God is the third person in the Trinity, “Father, Son, and Holy Ghost (Spirit)”. Throughout the Old Testament we find that the Spirit moves upon men for various reasons. There were times when the Spirit of the Lord moved on men to propel them to greatness. Joshua was moved by the Spirit of the Lord to fight and take cities in the name of the Lord. He was also moved by the Spirit to lead God’s people to the promised land. Other patriots were moved by the Spirit of God to “subdue kingdoms, bring forth righteousness, to obtain promises, to stop the mouths of lions, to quench the violence of fire, and escape the edge of swords…” (Hebrews 11:33-34) The Spirit of God is presented and intertwined in both the Old and the New Testaments as a witness.

There is nobody GOD, but GOD – Be like HIM !

We were made like GOD – in HIS Image, HIS Likeness.
It is the LORD who has made us, and not we ourselves.
We are HIS people and the sheep of HIS pasture.

It is Father GOD’s GOOD PLEASURE to give us, His people, the Kingdom.

We are joint-heirs of the inherited Kingdom with Jesus Christ

We who walk with Him are God’s Children.

He constantly watches over us and protects us.
He constantly speaks to us… leads us… guides us

We wait for HIM in the MIDNIGHT
We walk WITH HIM throughout the DAY

HE grants us eternal LIFE
HE grants us eternal HEALING

July 13th Sunday School Lesson

Though the title is “Watch what you eat” the heart of the lesson grapples with love edifying the church. As Christians we are free in Christ, but our freedom and our knowledge should not super cede the love of God in our hearts. How we exemplify that love determines our status in Christ.
